Storm Performance Volleyball’s 15’s Gold National Team Dominates at ATX Showcase
Storm Performance Volleyball’s 15’s Gold National Team, coached by Kelsi Luckenbach, showcased their prowess by winning the ATX Showcase in Austin, Texas, without dropping a single set throughout the tournament. The team went undefeated with a 7-0 record over the weekend.
The team’s journey to the championship was marked by a series of commanding performances. They kicked off the tournament with convincing wins against Houston Force (25-9, 27-25) and Texas Regulators (25-9, 25-13). The team continued their winning streak, defeating Valley Venom (25-17, 25-16) and TAV Blue (25-12, 25-6) in straight sets.
In the later stages of the tournament, Storm Performance maintained their momentum, securing victories against Houston Stellers (25-22, 25-20) and SA Juniors (25-15, 25-23). The championship match against AP Black proved to be a thrilling encounter, with Storm Performance emerging victorious (25-19, 27-25) to claim the ATX Showcase title.
Throughout the tournament, the team’s overall stats were remarkable. Middle hitter Nya White, who was selected as the MVP for the ATX Showcase, played a crucial role in the team’s success. Nya amassed an impressive 74 kills throughout the weekend, maintaining a stellar .380 hitting percentage. Her offensive prowess and smart decision-making were instrumental in the team’s dominant performance. Additionally, Nya’s blocking skills helped slow down the opposing teams’ offense, further contributing to Storm Performance’s success. Her aggressive serves also kept their opponents on their toes.
Setter Audree Vasquez orchestrated the team’s offense, tallying 134 assists and contributing 27 digs. Outside hitter Emily Richards and opposite hitter Emma Yeager combined for 33 kills, while defensive specialists Lauren Nieto and Jazlynn Escamilla anchored the defense with 47 and 36 digs, respectively. Libero Lilyana Garza showcased her all-around skills, recording 48 digs and serving an impressive 21 aces.
Middle hitter Kaylee Deaver made her presence felt with 23 kills and 1 block, while outside hitter Chloe Johnson contributed 7 kills and 6 digs. Defensive specialists Bailey Guess and Olivia Frazier provided solid support, with Guess recording 21 digs and Frazier adding 40 digs and 5 aces. Opposite hitter Zoe Schillinger rounded out the team’s efforts with 5 kills and 2 digs.
In the championship match against SA Juniors, Nya White led the charge with 15 kills and a .344 attack percentage. Audree Vasquez orchestrated the offense with 24 assists and added 5 digs. Lilyana Garza anchored the defense with 3 digs and 1 ace, while Jazlynn Escamilla contributed 11 digs.
The Storm Performance Volleyball 15’s Gold National Team’s undefeated run at the ATX Showcase is a testament to their skill, determination, and teamwork. Under the guidance of head coach Kelsi Luckenbach, these talented athletes have once again proven their ability to excel at the highest level of competition and are the top 15’s team in the Corpus Christi area.
